New SCOPE Policy

President visits LIPI

In SCOPE Rapid Assessment Process (RAP) projects there should be a minimum 30 % female participation and at least 30 % young scientists below the age of 40 years. At least 50 % should come from SCOPE members.
On Apri 28th 2017 the president of SCOPE visited the Indonesian Institute of Science (LIPI) in Jakarta in otder to discuss possibillities for an Indonesian membership in SCOPE in preparation for the upcoming LME activities.
Dr. Natarjan Ishwaran will replace Dr. Elinor Milne as Editor-in-Chief of the SCOPE journal Environmental Development published by Elsevier from July 1st 2017. Dr. Milne will continue as subject editor.

New Policy Brief

South America

New Contact Point

SCOPE is preparing a second policy brief on Bioenergy and sustainability. This one will focus on Africa and Latin America and is the result of the mini-RAP in Sao Paulo in October 2016.
Dr Maria Victoria Ramos Ballester at the University of Sao Paulo will serve as a SCOPE contact point for South America. She has already represented SCOPE at the "International Forum of UNESCO NGOs" in Queretaro, Mexico in November 2016

Dr.S.Suriyanarayanan at JSS university in India will serve as a SCOPE contact point in India. He will be engaged in pooling together Indian univesities for a joint membership in SCOPE. Dr.S.Suriyanarayanan is the former SCOPE science officer in Beijing.
